The Planet Offers Intel Quad Xeon 7550 Rack – Company’s Most Powerful Server

Server and hosting provider The Planet has announced availability of the Intel Quad Xeon 7550 “Nehalem EX” CPU-powered server.
“With more than three times the performance of the Intel Xeon 7400 series, this eight-core processor offers new levels of scalability and advanced reliability for mission-critical applications. It becomes the most powerful server in the company’s portfolio,” the press release says.
The server is built on a Dell’s PowerEdge R910 rack chassis and is the first four-socket (4S) server in The Planet’s fleet. The Quad Xeon 7550 runs at 2.0GHz, and has 18MB of cache and 1066MHz bus speed. The default configuration includes 32GB of RAM, 2TB of bandwidth and 2-300GB SAS drives.
The system is available to The Planet’s Dedicated Servers and Virtual Rack customers, with availability to all other environments by end of month. Prices start at $1,524 per month.
