The HP ProLiant DL165 G7, the latest generation 1U rack server with up to two new AMD Opteron 6100 8- and 12-core processors is now available for purchase.
Hewlett-Packard offers various ProLiant DL165 G7 configurations, offering up to 256GB of DDR3 RAM, support for up to 4 3.5″ or up to 8 2.5″ hard drives, B110i SATA RAID storage controller, up to 2 expansion slots, and dual Gigabit network controllers.
Hewlett-Packard has introduced three HP ProLiant G7 servers based on the new AMD Opteron 6100 Series CPUs: the ProLiant DL165 G7 and DL385 G7 rack servers, and the ProLiant SL165z G7 scale-out “skinless” server.
According to the company, the ProLiant G7 servers with the latest AMD Opterons “deliver a 27 times performance-per-watt increase”.
Hewlett-Packard has released recently the HP ProLiant ML150 G6 Server series, a new 5U tower 2-socket system based on Intel’s new Nehalem CPU microarchitecture.
When compared to the Intel 5100 chipset-based ProLiant ML150 G5, the ML150 G6 (Generation 6) with the Intel 5500 chipset features newer Intel Xeon dual- or quad-core processors with integrated memory controllers, support for up to 48GB of DDR3 memory instead of up to 16GB DDR2, new controller and adapter options, a new chassis design, and other innovations.
