Google Nexus One Cell Phone Announced
Wednesday, January 6, 2010 2:02Google announced today the Nexus One, the company’s first cell phone.
The Nexus One mobile phone/smartphone, or also called “superphone”, combines HTC’s hardware and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform with Google’s Adnroid mobile operating system.
Here are the Nexus One specifications:

* Thinness 11.5mm; Weight 130g
* Qualcomm Snapdragon™ 3G QSD8250 chipset, up to 1GHz clock speed
* 5MP camera with auto focus with flash and geo tagging
* 512MB Flash memory, 512MB RAM
* 4GB removable SD Card, which is expandable to 32GB
* Dynamic noise suppression from Audience, Inc.
* Ports: 3.5mm stereo headphone jack with four contacts for inline voice and remote control
* Removable 1400 mAh battery
* Personalized laser engraving: Up to 50 characters on the back of the phone
* Trackball: Tri-color notification LED, alerts when new emails, chats, text messages arrive
Regarding software, Android 2.1 offers standard phone features, web browsing, Google Maps navigation, support for multiple Gmail accounts and Exchange email support, as well as access to more than 18,000 aplications (including those interesting to small business users) via Android Market.
Nexus One is initially available for the US customers from the Google web store at www.google.com/phone without a service plan for $529 or starting at $179 with a two-year contract from T-Mobile USA. In the near future, the Nexus One will be available via Verizon Wireless in the US and Vodafone in Europe.
