Dell PowerEdge R210 Rack Server
Monday, October 12, 2009 19:42The Dell PowerEdge R210 is an entry-level rack server, featuring a compact 15.5 inches deep 1U chassis and a single CPU socket.
Designed for small businesses and larger offices, the Intel 3420 chipset-based PowerEdge R210 is offered with one of Intel Xeon 3400 Series quad-core processors, up to 16GB of unbuffered DDR3 memory using 4 DIMM slots, and up to two 2.5”/ 3.5” SAS, SATA or SSD non hot-plug drives.
The R210 has a single PCI Express Gen. 2 slot and comes with an onboard SATA storage controller without RAID support, as well as with optional software or hardware RAID 0 and RAID 1-capable controllers. Customers can also choose one of host bus adapters for connectivity to external storage devices. Network adapter choices include an embedded dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN adapter by Broadcom, and optional single-, dual- or quad-port Gigabit NICs. For system management, the PowerEdge R210 provides a baseboard controller or one of iDRAC6 controllers that enable advanced and remote management. The power supply is a non-redundant 250W unit.
Regarding other features, there are an optional DVD drive, two USB ports, and a VGA output on the front, as well as an eSATA port, additional two USB connectors, a Serial port, and another VGA output on the back of the chassis. The VGA outputs are managed by the Matrox G200 GPU.
The 1U rack server measures 1.67″ (H) x 17.1″ (W) x 15.5″ (D) and weighs up to 17.77lbs.
The R210 comes without operating system or with one of Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2003 and Small Business Server 2008 editions, as well as with optional Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server or Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The factory installed virtualization option is Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V.
The base price for the Dell PowerEdge R210 is $999, with the 3Yr Basic Hardware Warranty included.
